Al-Muhalabdot com
Story
Al-Muhalab is the name of a famous boom (dhow), it was build and sailed in 1937.
The work headed by the famous ship maker Mohammed bin Abdulla Al-Istad, It took 70 days, 14 carpenters, 10 hours daily, 3 Indian rupees for each and with a total cost of 15000 Indian rupees ( Kuwait Dinars 1,125,000 ).
It weighs 85 tons empty without the sails, it can take a load of 225 tons of goods
After 15 years of service Al-Muhalab was retired, and kept for some time forgotten, until 1960 when Thunayan Al-Ghanim gave it to the government as a gift. It was placed in Al-Shwaikh.
In 1983 and after an extensive hard work of refurbishment, by Jassim AbdulRasoul assisted by eight carpenters and a good number of volunteers, it was pulled to Kuwait National Museum in a very hard, tough, slow and long trip from Al-Shwaikh.
In 1990 and during the Iraqi invasion to Kuwait, the invaders and as part of their efforts to wipe Kuwaiti heritage had burned it down, but after liberation the Amir of Kuwait requested to be build back and restored which had been carried out by xxx and it could be seen again as as a great symbol.
